Grameen Jano Unnayan Sanstha (GJUS) is implementing a SMART sub-project focused on promoting resilient and environmentally sustainable growth in the fisheries sector. The project aims to build capacity, introduce advanced technologies, and foster green practices among micro-enterprises involved in pisciculture.
Beneficiaries: 1,500 micro-enterprises
Duration: 3 years and 6 months (until 30 June 2028)
Financial Support:
Agrosor-SMART Loan: BDT 50 crore
Common Service SMART Loan: BDT 1.5 crore
This initiative supports inclusive economic development through sustainable aquaculture, contributing to climate resilience and rural livelihoods in southern Bangladesh.
Sub-Project Objectives
• Adopting resource efficient, clean production and good fisheries practices
• Adoption of climate resilient technologies to reduce climate vulnerability
• Enhancing technical knowledge and capacity of Micro Entrepreneurs (MEs)
• Increasing fish production and reducing post-harvest losses
