                                                                                                      Adaptation Learning Centre (ALC)

Adaptation Learning Centre (ALC) is situated in Char kukri-Mukri which is southernmost part of Bhola district. It is established by UNDP through its Adaptation Learning Centre development project in 2020 during Corona Pandemic. 27 adaptation learning centers established around the world through this project where Bangladesh part were established one of the most vulnerable area of the country. The project started in February 2nd, 2025 by co-funding collaboration with Grameen Jano Unnayan Sangstha (GJUS) where UNDP contribution is 55%, ALC contribution is 5% and GJUS contribution is 40%.

Adaptation Learning Centre (ALC) project duration is one and half year long. There is an Adaptation Learning Centre building along with four cottages. Adaptation Learning Centre building consists of a conference/training room, a gallery hall, an office cum staff room, four washrooms and 2 storage rooms. Training room can accommodate 100 persons at a time. The cottages can accommodate around 8-10 persons and can be rented per day basis where rent is shared with land owner on a 50-50 basis. Gallery hall showcases various achievement of GJUS and work done by ALC.

Total budget of this project is 99,90,000 BDT. The objectives of this project are to address the climate vulnerability in this area, to generate climate adaptation techniques, to disseminate the knowledge and technologies in this region. The project working area based on only char kukri-mukri. Around 500 people of this island will be the direct beneficiaries where another 2500 people will be the indirect beneficiaries.
