Revolution on Taslima’s Colour Broiler

Mst Taslima is a poor woman of Medua village which is situated at Medua union of Daulotkhan upozilla in Bhola. Her husband named Jahangir Hossain was a traditional fisherman and daily average income is about 300TK. She has three son & daughter in her struggling life and she has only 6 decimal land above homestead. In order to increase family income, she takes an initiative of poultry rearing as a profitable income generating assets with the help of loan support of an NGO.

Therefore, Taslima added her name at local NGO-Grameen Jano Unnayan Sangstha(GJUS) as a member of Shapla-165 group dated on 15/10/2020 and apply for a loan amount of 30000/-TK at 18/10/2020. With the help of loan, she purchases 25pieces of poultry and start farming. Due to lack of proper experience over vaccine & treatment, she cannot earn more profit on poultry farming.

In the meantime, she knows about color broiler poultry rearing and makes an interest over this. Livestock officer of GJUS giving her technical guidelines on developing poultry shed and how to maintain the biosecurity. She takes 60000/-TK as second loan from the organization dated on 09/12/2021 which is essential for poultry farm developing and feed purchase. She gets a grant over color broiler poultry farm i.e., 165pieces and another medicinal equipment which is essential for poultry farming. Two days training on poultry rearing has been taken and after training she knows details about vaccine & farm management which is very helpful on poultry farming.

At first lot, after 40 days of color broiler rearing, she sells 250TK/kg and earn a total amount of 8600tk which is a big amount for her life. She is very grateful to the organization for helping him such a profitable business.

Depending on her profit money, she again purchases 2nd lot of color broiler at his own effort and gain a big amount of about 12000tk at 40days of rearing period. Now she is very happy and take a strict decision for rearing color broiler all time. By seeing this another new entrepreneur is established in her surrounding area and a cluster of color broiler bird is developed. She is capacitised and expanded a 500capacity poultry shed near of her farm. Taslima with her bright eyes conveying rays of confidence and contentment and pointing to the distant horizon, ‘Life is very strange. It always sends a million of opportunities to everybody. One just has to be open to receive those opportunities. I had hard times. But I trusted the opportunities I came across. I express my deep gratitude to Grameen Jano Unnayan Sangstha(GJUS). I believe they will accompany me in my long journey ahead.’’
